Three Decades After Dayton: Can Constitutional Change Bring Sustainable Peace?
At the 2025 Sarajevo conference on Constitutionalism and Post-Conflict Societies, I presented on the role of the international community in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s transitional justice and constitutional reform. The Dayton-based Constitution enabled peace but entrenched ethnic divisions. Despite international involvement, key reforms remain pending. As BiH moves toward EU accession, constitutional change must support sustainable peace and local ownership.
